The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade is a long awaited day in our family. We were all crowded around the television in our finest sleeping attire, i.e. jammies and anticipating the start of the parade. Let the food fest begin!

This year I made; a hot jalapeño popper dip found on Pinterest, went old –school with the Lipton Onion Soup mix & sour cream, bought the traditional perennial favorite shrimp tray, & for something sweet created soggy red velvet cupcakes. This small repast just fills our tummy’s enough so we are ready for our late afternoon turkey dinner.

While enjoying the singers, dancers, floats and marching bands, I heard something interesting. I learned that there is a Bob & Delores Hope Scholarship for bands appearing the Macy’s parade. A band member submits an essay & if he/she is chosen they get 5K toward their education as well a nabbing another 5K for their school band. What a way to say, “Thanks for the memories”. Now on to the main event, turkey and trimmings!

I thought since we were in New York we should highlight an artistic school with high academic standards. Any other artistic schools you want to nominate?
